Linda STEPHENS Obituary
STEPHENS, Linda It is with great sorrow that the family of Linda Stephens publishes this notice of her death on October 13, 2017, from Lewy body dementia. Born in 1943, Linda grew up in Sandy Springs. Learning about occupational therapy in Girl Scouts, she determined to become an OT. After graduating from the University of Florida, she worked many years in Atlanta as a pediatric OT, beloved equally by her young clients and their parents. During that time, she earned an MA from Georgia State, served two terms as president of the Georgia Occupational Therapy Association, and was instrumental in the licensing of OT's in the State of Georgia. Linda was a dedicated parent, an avid tennis player, and an active member of St. James United Methodist Church. Dedicated to working towards a better world, she ran for state legislature as a Democrat. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Bruce Hoff; her sons Darryl and Brian and stepson David; her grandchildren Isaac, Josie, Zeke, Cecily, Lyric, and Quinn; and her siblings, Diana, Sharon, Laura, and Lee. She was predeceased by her parents, Ken and Lois Coogle, and her stepson, Christopher. All who knew and loved Linda are invited to a memorial service at St. James UMC on October 21 at 3pm, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Linda Stephens Scholarship (http://gaota.com/recognitions-awards) would honor Linda's career, while donations to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (https://www.lbda.org/donate) would help other sufferers of that terrible disease.
