FISHER, Jr., Lorenza
Funeral Service for Mr. Lorenza Fisher, Jr. will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 80 Walnut St., SW, Rev. Dr. Richard W. Wills, Sr., Pastor, Officiating. Interment, South-View Cemetery. The remains will be placed in state at the church at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends this evening (Wednesday) at our chapel from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Family and friends are requested to assemble at 2387 Lilla Circle, SW, Atlanta, 30310 at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the service.
Lorenza Fisher Jr., affectionately known as ""Fisher"", was the oldest child born on June 1, 1927 in Atlanta, Georgia to Lorenza Fisher Sr. and Eloise Gillum. He was preceded in death by wife Annette Fuller Fisher, his brother Jack L. Fisher, and his sister, Barbara Fisher Troup.
Lorenza was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1945. After graduation from high school, at the age of 18, Lorenza was drafted into the United States Armed Service and sent overseas. When he returned from his service duty in 1947, he began working for the Railway Mail Service and started a distinguished career with the United States Postal Service.
On August 24, 1952, he married Annette Fuller. Lorenza and Annette were married for 64 years. Annette passed away on August 21, 2016.
During his work was in the United States Post Office, Lorenza developed lifelong friendships with colleagues. He served as mail carrier and mail clerk and was known as a disciplined and highly competent employee.
He is survived by his brother, Joseph H. Fisher, daughter, Natalie Colbert (Reginald) and son, Stephen Lorenza Fisher (Valerie), Alexandra Elizabeth Colbert, granddaughter, Jonathan Wesley Colbert (Christine), grandson, Ella Simone Christensen Colbert, great granddaughter, Michael Troup and Eric Troup (Ruthshell), nephews and Jean Harris, cousin.
