POETTER, Mable Mable Reece Poetter, age 91, of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2011. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Louis Poetter, her three daughters and their husbands; Marcia and Bob Kunkle, Rita Evans and Joe Chafin, Dana and Charlie Rogers, 6 grandchildren and four spouses; Cherie and Darren Finch, Kristen and Ryan Richardson, Aimee and Mike Brooks, Carrie and Michael White, Blake Rogers, and Jeff Rogers, and 5 great grandchildren, Matthew Christian, Syler Richardson, Emily Brooks, Alden Richardson, and Kaitlyn Brooks. Her remaining sisters are Della Colquitt, and Carrie Watson. Much treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws also survive. Born in Ellijay, Mable attended nursing school at Georgia Baptist School of Nursing and received her R.N. degree. She had a distinguished management career at Georgia Baptist Medical Center for more than 53 years with titles of Quality Assurance Coordinator, Nursing Fundamentals Instructor, Assistant to the Director, Nursing Supervisor and Class Sponsor. Other vocational interests included being the President of Personalized Interiors, serving as a board of trustees member for Tift College, and as a Director of Nursing Services. A few of her career honors include being the recipient of an honorary Ph.D. from Tift College, being recognized as "Distingushed Alumni of the Year" for the Georgia Baptist Nursing School, and receiving the Dana Hudson Award. Her advocacy efforts included working on full accreditation for diploma nursing schools, volunteering with the Girl Scouts, and assisting in the polio epidemic. She was an active member of First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served on numerous committees. A Funeral Service to Celebrate the Life of Mable will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Flowers accepted, but memorials may be made to the Georgia Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2302 Parklake Drive, Suite 210, Atlanta, Georgia 30345. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the service. Condolences may be sent or viewed at Tom M.
