Marigold WATSON Obituary
WATSON, Marigold Anne Marigold Anne Watson, 73, passed away at her home in Sandy Springs on August 6th, 2018. Born in Bathgate, Scotland, Marigold grew up in the shadow of England's Malvern Hills. At 16 she met John Henry, then 17. They married five years later in the church where her father was vicar. Newlyweds in the London of the sixties, they later moved to Farnham, Surrey, and then Toronto, Minneapolis, and Atlanta. She became a proud American citizen in 1993. In three countries Marigold made a home for John and their children, Sethina, Hannah, Henry, and Martha, where so many others found love and refuge. Her cornerstones were family and faith. She is beloved by so many at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church. In 1996 she completed an Education for Ministry at the University of the South. She was a student and, later, teacher of scripture in its Greek and Hebrew traditions. Marigold was a person of extraordinary courage and compassion. She embraced life, even at its hardest, giving great strength to others. As a young woman, she walked through cancer and the loss of little Henry. In her last years, she rose above cancer a second time, teaching the Saint Patrick's scripture class and living with fullness and joy beside John. Together Marigold and John had traveled the world, much of it on a motorcycle. She loved the mountains, where in recent years they kept a cabin. Boyd and Lincoln, her grandsons, were her great delight and she loved being Grandma. Marigold was a talented singer and actor, a lover of birdlife, and a wise counselor. Love never ends, and Marigold departed with the love of John; her daughters and sons-in-law Mike Reiter and Tim Ayers; her grandsons; her siblings John (Ruth), Bill (Claire) and Angela (Doug); and so many dear friends to whom she was family. The memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday August 23rd, St. Patrick's Episcopal Church at 4755 N Peachtree Rd, Dunwoody, GA. The family would like to thank Dr. W. Perry Ballard and Anna Edwards, and so many staff of Piedmont Cancer Institute, who cared for Marigold with such warmth.
