Martin MANN Obituary
MANN, Martin William Martin William Mann, "Marty", 63, of Sandy Springs, GA passed away on September 25, 2017 from a short but extreme battle with colon cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, William Thomas Mann, and is survived by his mother, Sara Stringer Mann of Atlanta. Born in Waco, Texas in 1954, Mr. Mann lived in Atlanta almost all of his life. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Julie McGouirk Mann, daughter Katie Penland (husband Seth) of Flowery Branch, GA, son Tyler (wife Erica) of Palo Alto, CA, soon to be Austin, TX. He was also survived by two sisters, Marsha Perkins (husband Mike) of London, and Julie Riggs (husband Clarence "Riggs") of Winter Park, FL, and 8 nieces and nephews. A graduate of Georgia Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Mann followed his father's legacy as President of Mann Mechanical Company in Avondale Estates, GA, mentoring a great team to carry forth the high standards set by the Mann family. Mr. Mann was a very active member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church since 1989. He has been an avid fan of Georgia Tech sports and loved travel and spending time in nature. Mr. Mann's life was a model of love, strong faith, ethics, and positivity. His humor and big laugh was infectious to many. He mentored many people, some he barely knew, ready to listen and share any words of wisdom to inspire and brighten their day. He invested time in relationships, seeing his family and friends as the treasure of life. A visitation is planned for Thursday, September 28 from 6-8 PM at H.M. Patterson & Son, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 29 at 11:00 AM at Peachtree Presbyterian in the main sanctuary, 3434 Roswell Road, Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Marty Mann to his favorite charity, Urban Recipe (food co-op communities for low-income families), 645 Grant Street, Atlanta, 30312, or to .
