Mary Evelyn Pugh ALLIGOOD Obituary
ALLIGOOD, Mary Evelyn Pugh Mary Evelyn Pugh Alligood, 50, peacefully slipped away on Sunday, November 26th, in the arms of her loving sons. Mary was born on January 26, 1967 and spent most of her youth in Atlanta, attending Fernbank Elementary School and Druid Hills High School. She held the starring role in the 7th grade musical "Little Mary Sunshine" and maintained that role for the rest of her life. Her physical strength as a swimmer and diver continued at the University of Indianapolis, in her summers lifeguarding and teaching swimming and later in her work with water therapy. After gaining her Master's degree in Physical Therapy at Emory University, her love of sun and water was evidenced when she got to Naples, the first of many planned adventures in travel PT, and made it her home. Bringing joy, helping others and loving life were Mary's passions. Her work as a physical therapist in Atlanta and Naples allowed her to do all of these things as she worked to keep others positive and strong. But by far, she would tell everyone, her greatest accomplishment and her dream come true were her two sons, Cooper and Erik. Mary is survived by her two sons, their father Gary Alligood, her parents Joe and Alice Pugh and her brother, Bryan, and his family, as well as a multitude of friends and family, patients, schoolmates and others who were fortunate enough to be touched by her powerful energy. Mary requested private services with closest family and friends. Her sons wish to thank all of those whose love and support they have felt during her battle with brain cancer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a fund created for Cooper and Erik's ongoing education at the website YouCaring.com/cooperanderikalligood.
