Mary SCHAEFFER Obituary
SCHAEFFER (Hatcher), Mary Elizabeth Mary Elizabeth (Hatcher) Schaeffer, age 48, passed away on September 6, 2017. She was an Atlanta native, born on November 29, 1968. Mary was a 1986 graduate of Redan High School, and a 1990 graduate of the University of Georgia, Terry College of Business. Mary was extremely bright, and enjoyed a successful career in accounting at Arthur Andersen, the Washington Post Company, and Hypercom, before leaving to raise her family. Mary's greatest joy in life was reserved for her husband, Michael, and their children, Andrew, Quinn, and Brian, as well as her bulldog Kirby. She loved her family deeply and was immensely proud of each of them. Her happiest days were spent at Buckhead Baseball, TopHat Soccer, NYO Softball and countless volunteer activities at Morris Brandon Elementary, Northside Methodist pre-school and the Westminster Schools. Mary was a lifelong sports enthusiast. She excelled at competitive softball as a youth, and rejoiced at the triumphs in her children's sports as well as her beloved Georgia Bulldogs. Mary was fun loving, kind-hearted, and a steadfast friend. In addition to her husband and children, Mary is survived by her mother, Jane Rhodes Hatcher; sister, Debbie Hatcher Kamienski (husband Dave, children Nick and Jessica); sister, Alison Hatcher Prins (husband, Mark, child Emily); sister-in-law, Cathy Chambers (children Luke and Nathan); brother-in-law, Stephen Schaeffer; and parents-in-law, Margaret and Gerald Schaeffer. Mary is also survived by her many friends and large extended family. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles G. Hatcher, Jr., and baby, Christopher Schaeffer. Visitation will take place at H.M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill Chapel 1020 Spring Street NW, Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday, September 10 from 4:00 to 7:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, Georgia on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. A reception at the church will immediately follow the service, with a graveside service at Arlington Memorial Park at 201 Mt Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity that is special to you.
