N. Forrest Montet Obituary
N. Forrest Montet died the 24th day of September 2017. Forrest was born March 31, 1929 to Bonnie Jones Montet and Numa Francois Montet. Because his father was a Congressman from Thibodaux Louisiana, most of Forrest's formative years were spent in Washington DC. After graduating in 1947 from Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington DC, Forrest attended Louisiana State University. While attending LSU, he also worked, providing the majority of his college expenses. Attaining his B.S. degree and R.O.T.C. commission in 1951, Forrest was ordered into the U.S.A.F. Being first stationed at Warner Robins AFB, he had the opportunity while there to meet Nancy Lewis of Atlanta, Ga., then a student at Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga. After a year in Galena, Alaska, Forrest returned to the south, and on June 20, 1953, married Nancy Lewis. With the help of money saved while in the USAF, the G.I. Bill, and Nancy's secretarial skills, Forrest obtained his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1956. About July 1, 1957, Forrest opened his law office in Atlanta. After years of struggle, Forrest developed a sufficient competency as a civil trial attorney to permit him to retire at age 55. Forrest was a member of St. John United Methodist Church, The Atlanta Athletic Club, and the Georgia Bar Association. Outside of his family, he enjoyed sports, nature, and hunting. Forrest was always more generous with others than with himself. In August 2014, after 61 years of marriage, Forrest lost Nancy. Forrest is survived by his son Robert Forrest Montet, his daughter, Nancy V. (Vicki) Montet, his daughter-in-law Kristin W. Montet, his grandchildren Jordan W. Montet, and Robert F. Montet, Jr. He is also survived by a brother Marcus Montet of Thibodaux, Louisiana. Graveside services will be held at Arlington Memorial Park at 10:30am on Saturday September 30th. Family visitation will be at Patterson's Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd in Sandy Springs on Friday evening September 29th from 6pm-8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a , designed to benefit the truly needy. Suggestions would be Smile-Train or . Forrest was particularly sensitive to the needs of children growing up under unfortunate circumstances. Montet, N. Forrest
