Nathan Seiden Obituary
Nathan Seiden of Sandy Springs died on November 21, 2017. He was 88 years old. Graveside services were held on November 24th at Arlington Memorial Park. Rabbi Ephraim Silverman officiated. Born in New York City, he had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., St. Louis, Mo., and Dover, N.J. before moving to Atlanta/Sandy Springs in 1989. A veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired Major in the USAF Reserve and a 1951 graduate of the City College of New York. Mr. Seiden was an acknowledged expert on sub-missiled ammunition, ballistic missiles, and pyrotechnics and had retired from his position as a Supervisory Ordnance Engineer with the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Center at Picatinny Arsenal, N.J. in 1989. He received numerous commendations for his contributions to the development and production of sub-missiled artillery projectiles during his career. Mr. Seiden was also active in community affairs as a Rockaway Township, N.J. Little League baseball coach and a Cub Scout leader. He was a Past President of the Dover (N.J.) Jewish Center, which honored him as Man-of-the-Year in 1971, Past Commander of Post 689 of the Jewish War Veterans, and a member of NARFE, AARP, AIChE, ADPA, and B'nai B'rith. He was also a member of Congregation B'nai Torah, its Men's Club, Senior Leisure Club and Ritual Committee, Chabad of Cobb, and of Post 976, JWV. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marion, sons and daughters-in-law Dr. Arthur and Debbie, Neal and Debra, and grandchildren Michael Bryan (Jessica), Jamie Erin (Andy), Jeffrey Aaron, and Joshua Mark, great grandchildren Bennett, and Jacob, and a sister, Evelyn of Highland Park, N.J., and nieces and nephews.
