Robert COWART Obituary
Robert "Bob" Homer Cowart, 80, passed away on October 1, 2017 at his home in Milton, Georgia. He was born July 7, 1937 to Homer Turner Cowart and Lola Collier Cowart of Bronwood, Georgia. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Joan Peddy, in 1959 and was a devoted and caring husband for over 58 years. He graduated from Terrell County High School and went on to attend The Georgia Institute of Technology where he received a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering. Bob was awarded a Sloan Fellowship to attend The Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received a Master's degree in Management. He had a rewarding 33 year career with Delta Airlines where he served in many executive level roles. Bob retired from Delta Airlines in 1994 as Vice President of Technical Operations. He was an active member of St Aidan's Episcopal Church in Milton and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed astronomy, photography, amateur radio and trains. Bob is survived by his wife, Joan, his three children Caren Jones, Alan Cowart, Carol Simica, his sister Rebecca Cowart Rutter and brother Andy Cowart. Bob has seven surviving grandchildren who knew him affectionately as "GPB" (Grandpa Bob): Jennifer Cowart, Kelley Gann, Ryan Yarborough, Kyle Jones, Allison Cowart, William Yarborough, and Robert Cowart. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00am at St Aidan's Episcopal Church in Milton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St Aidan's Episcopal Church.
