Robert Parks HARBER Obituary
HARBER, Robert Parks Robert Parks Harber, 89, of Lawrenceville, beloved husband and father passed away on January 8, 2017. Born October 31, 1928 in Commerce, GA, he was the son of the late Thomas Eckford Harber and Mary Lou Parks Harber, and the third of six children. He lived a full and active life. He played football in high school and married his wife of 69 years at 19 years of age. In the early years of his marriage, he worked for the railroad and served in the army. Teaming up with his brother in law, Harold Johnson and their wives, they started what was to become a very successful partnership that flourished until retirement. Their first business was Puritan Dairy Farms, which was in operation for over 30 years. While the dairy was still operating they formed Johnson and Harber Construction company and later were founding members of The First National Bank of Henry County. Taking care of his family was top priority and he made sure his wife, children, and grandchildren had everything they needed and more. He and wife Cora had very active social lives. They enjoyed playing cards, time spent with their friends from church and the Harbor club of Lake Oconee. They had an absolute passion for golf, and traveled the United States and other countries seeking out the finest golf courses. He was a devoted member of Ousley Methodist Church for over 40 years, and after moving to Lawrenceville, joined Snellville United Methodist Church. He participated in leadership roles in both churches. Robert (Bob) was preceded in death by his cherished wife of almost 70 years, Cora Harber; his brothers, Jerome and Bartowe Harber; his sisters, Mary Anne Johnson and Libby Bouwmans; and his son in law Tom Colley. He is survived by his daughters, Adrienne Colley, JoAnne Harber, and Lara Harber; his sons, Robert Donald Harber (wife Peggy Baker Harber) and Gene Harber; his grandchildren, April Nuckolls, Shelly Embrick, Cori Harber, Parks and Robson Harber; great-granddaughter, Yasmine Embrick; brother, Gene Harber and his family; and many more loving family and friends. The family will receive friends at 3 PM Saturday, January 13, at Tom M. Wages Funeral Home in Snellville with a Celebration of Bob's life at 4 PM. Dr. James B. Mooneyhan, Sr. will be officiating.
