THORN, Robert E. Marietta, GA Robert E. Thorn, age 70, of Marietta, GA, passed away July 7, 2018 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA. He was born June 30, 1948 in Parkersburg, WV, son of the late Delson Thorn and Jessie Wilson Thorn. He was a 1968 graduate of Parkersburg High School serving in ROTC. He received his Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from West Virginia University in 1972. In 2009 Bob earned his Master of Science degree in Architecture/Urban Design from The Georgia Institute of Technology. Bob worked as a Project Land Manager, Landscape Architect, Planner/Inspector and Community Development totaling 46 years. In school He joined the Honor Society of Sigma Lambda Alpha at West Virginia University where he met his spouse in 1971. A member of ASLA the American Society of Landscape Architects and serviced for CLARB the Council of Landscape Architectural Registrations Boards. He has many state registrations and awards. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Marietta, GA Left to cherish Bob's memory are his loving family; wife, Aleta Thorn; and three children, Dustin Thorn and wife Amy of Cincinnati, OH, Colleen Mathe and husband Brett of Acworth, GA and Natalie Jones and husband Mike of Canton, GA; and five+ grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA where family will receive friends on Friday from 5 until 8 pm. Visitors will park at the Chapel/Mausoleum at Mount Saint Macrina Cemetery on Saturday morning, July 14, 2018 from 9 until 10 am followed by a blessing service at 10 am concluding with the burial/interment. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Leiomyosarcoma Support & Direct Research Foundation at Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at and on the funeral home Face Book page.
