BURTON, Robin G. ROBIN G. BURTON Robin G. Burton, age 56, of Alpharetta, continued on her journey through the Great Light of our God Friday, May 18, 2012. Mrs. Burton was a native of Atlanta who, as a baby, moved to Gylnn County with her family. Robin graduated Magna Cum Laude from Valdosta State College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in June, 1977. She was a recipient of Department Honors possessing the highest academic average in her Psychology Program. The University of Georgia conferred upon Robin the degree of Master of Education in August, 1978. Robin retired from the U.S. Treasury while employed at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (Glynco/Brunswick, GA), National Criminal Investigation Training Academy, Internal Revenue Service. Robin was the recipient of several performance awards while employed with the U.S. Treasury. Robin enjoyed art, working in several media formats, including: acrylics, pencil, and oil pastels. Her colors tended to be bright and joyous. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Ola Gragg, a sister, Sarah Wylie, and her father John Wilson Gragg. She is survived by her husband Joseph Burton of Alpharetta, and a sister Susan Gragg of Wilmington Island; an aunt Carolyn Warford (Charles) of Nashville, TN; an uncle, Dr. Alan Gragg (Jessie) of Asheville, NC; an uncle Reverend Dr. James M. Ford (Sally) of Powder Springs, GA; an uncle Dr. Lawrence G. Ford (Jane Ann) Decatur, AL; a father-in-law John S. Burton, III (Marie) of Boca Raton, FL; and a mother-in-law Elaine M. Barth (Sam) of Live Oak, FL. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Philip, 2744 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta, GA. The Reverend Canon Elizabeth Knowlton, Celebrant, and the Reverend Canon C. Wallace Marsh, IV, Preacher. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the Gould Room. A burial will be held in Chapel Park Cemetery, 1180 Cate Road, Brunswick, GA 31525, on Thursday, May 24 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the burial at Chapel Park Cemetery. The Reverend Alan Akridge, Rector, St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Brunswick, GA, officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Cathedral of St. Philip, 2744 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta, GA, 30305; or St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 900 Gloucester St. Brunswick, GA 31520.
