AYRES-WILLIAMS, Rosalind Annette "Roz" Award-winning Atlanta business writer and playwright Rosalind (Roz) Annette Ayres-Williams passed away Monday, December 25, 2017. Roz, the oldest of three children, was born September 1, 1949 in Montclair, NJ, to Thomas and Dorothy (Hillman) Ayres. Her professional career spanned 4 decades and includes various forms of published works such as short and one-act plays, a novel, a compendium of essays, and a self-help book for business writers and their clients. In 2005, Roz returned to playwriting, creating various works such as Jesse Mae Butler Objects, Desperately Seeking Oprah, Puff the Fire Dragon, The Passing of Fatha Thyme, and uncivil warring (co-writer Patrick Cuccaro). She also has written articles for many news publications, including her own blogs, ramblingroz.wordpress.com and examiner.com/atlantAbartender. She leaves behind a devoted daughter, Jessica Ayres Williams, and three grandchildren, Noel Greene, Olanah and Arianna Lee, a brother, Thomas (Lynn) Ayres, Jr., a brother-in-law, Obi (Rhonda Ayres/Camille LaShay) Anyafo, an aunt, Orbina Hilma , and nine nieces and nephews, Dana Ayres, Thomas Ayres III, Lauren Ayres, Yolanda Ayres Talley, Chukwuka (Chuka) Anyafo, and Andrew Anyafo, three great nieces and nephews, Aaron Ayres, Nyjae Talley, Elijah Talley, and cousins, William Gregory, Alfred Hillman, Jr., and Kirk Hillman. She was pre-deceased by parents, Thomas and Dorothy Ayres, sister, Rhonda Ayres Anyafo, and husband, Kermitt Williams. There will be a viewing on Friday, December 29, from 4 pm to 8 pm; Celebration of Life Service Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 5 pm. Interment Private. All services will be held at Willie A. Watkins Historic West End Chapel located at 1003 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd, Atlanta, GA.
