THOMPSON (Gray), Ruth Ellen "Babe" Ruth Ellen "Babe" (Gray) Thompson, of Suwanee Georgia, was called to Heaven on Friday, September 22, 2017. She was born on May 9, 1950 in Salem, Illinois to Betty Ruth (Broom) Gray-Hawkins and Charles Arthur Gray. Ruth loved sharing stories of her days growing up in Salem and on the family farm in Alma. She was a 1968 graduate of Salem Community High School, where she was a cheerleader, 4-H member and senior prom queen. She attended Lockyear College of Business and worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. In 1970, Ruth married Carl Dean Thompson from Tell City, Indiana. She was a devoted wife and mother to their three children, Nick Thompson of Suwanee, Sarah Thibadeau of Alpharetta, and Amy Hewitt of Roswell. They resided in Dunwoody, Ga for 32 years. It brought Ruth great joy to spend time with her seven grandchildren whom she dearly loved; Joey, Lindsay, Ava, and Luke (Nick), Matthew and Samantha (Sarah), and Ryan (Amy). They will greatly miss their Grandma Ruth ("Maw"). She is survived by her brother Jim (Linda) Gray of Salem, Illinois; sister Kathy (Mike) Martin of Deltona, Florida; nieces and nephews Brian and Jeff Gray, Michael Vogt, Megan Todd, Matt Martin; husband, Dean; her three children and seven grandchildren. Ruth was a kind and loving person who touched many lives. Her humble nature and integrity resonated through everything she did. Her gracious heart and warm smile will be remembered by all who knew her. The family will receive friends in remembrance and celebration of Ruth's life on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 3:30-5:30 pm at McDonald & Son Funeral Home & Crematory in Cumming, Ga. A graveside service will be held at 6:30 PM at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
