Ruth TROUTMAN Obituary
TROUTMAN, Ruth Miller Ruth Troutman passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at age 95. She was born on December 4, 1921 in Baconton, GA, daughter of James Raymond Miller and Ruth Wilson Miller. She attended Shorter College in Rome, GA, where she met and married Forrest H. Shropshire, Sr.. There she raised their children, attended St. Peter's Episcopal Church, and worked at WROQ radio station where she created the first on-air women's program in Rome. She was active in Rome Little Theater, the Seven Hills Garden Club, The Junior Service League of Rome, and the Rome Follies. She moved to Atlanta in 1970 and established Peddlers' Path, a new format for advertising in the newspaper. She married her late husband, Henry B. Troutman, Sr, and she was an active member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church. She is survived by her children, Miller Shire of Asheville, NC, and her son, Forrest Shropshire and wife, Gayla, of Westport, MA; her grandchildren, Welling LaGrone and wife, Heather, of Natick, MA, and David Wright LaGrone of Nashville, TN; her Great Grandchildren, Miranda LaGrone, Zara LaGrone, and Samuel LaGrone, all of Natick, MA. Ruth leaves close ties and loving relationships with the surviving grandchildren of her late husband, Henry B. Troutman, Sr. of Atlanta, GA.
