Sandra Vasa-Sideris Obituary
Sandra (Sandy) Vasa-Sideris passed away on September 12 in Marietta, Georgia due to complications from heart surgery. She was born at the Great Lakes Illinois Naval Station on July 4th 1950.

She received a BA and Masters degree in French Literature from the University of Tennessee, and an MBA and PhD in Management from Georgia State University. She spent many years teaching at Southern Polytechnic State University where she excelled as a teacher and administrator responsible for directing the school's MBA program and where she was an advocate for the care of students. She stayed with the program through the merger to Kennesaw State University.

She was a member of the Georgia Symphony Orchestra Chorus and the Greek Orthodox Holy Transfiguration church of Marietta, as well as a volunteer for a number of community and educational causes.

Her late father and mother, Dr. Ralph and Irene Vasa, were both US Navy veterans. She is survived by her husband Tony and son George, her three younger sisters Kathy, Robin and Natalie, her brother Ben, and many more loving relatives and friends. Sandy was celebrated for her loving spirit, her warm sensitivity, and most of all her determination to help others excel.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, friends provide donations to causes she supported, including the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and Planned Parenthood. She lives in the hearts of many that she touched.
