Sarah WILEY Obituary
WILEY, Sarah Frances Sarah Frances Parker Wiley entered her eternal home on December 21, 2017 at the age of 98 and a half. She was born in Atlanta on June 12, 1919 to David and Sarah Parker. Mischievous and clever, she loved to laugh and played constant tricks on her siblings and friends. As a teenager, her mother became ill and passed away unexpectedly. Frances then moved to Atlanta with her siblings and quickly became employed at Lee Baking Company, where she met and married Roy Wiley. She became a true Wiley by moving in with her husband's widowed mother and the Wiley siblings. Throughout her life, she worked for the government at Conley, for the city of College Park as a police lady, for Dobbs House at the old Atlanta airport, and for Paradies and Company, where she opened toy shops in airports in Atlanta, Washington DC, Tampa, and New York. She had a keen mind and a sharp wit. She was the same person to everybody and no one escaped her humor. She attended and worked towards bringing people into the kingdom of God at College Park 1st United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Josephine, Bill, and Dave Parker, by her husband of 60 years, Roy Wiley and some of his siblings, Grace, George, Lorene, and Lloyd, and by her son, John Wiley. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Norma and Bobby Ballard, her daughter in law, Joyce Wiley, her grandchildren, Cyndi Johnson (Brad), Mark Ballard (Pam), Ashley Newkam (Kevin), and Stephanie Wiley, and the Wiley siblings, Jerry Wilkes and Paul Wiley. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at College Park 1st United Methodist Church on Thursday, December 28, 2017. Visitation will begin at 1 pm with a service following at 2. In lieu of flowers you are encouraged to make donations to College Park 1st United Methodist Church. Arrangements made under the direction of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory, Peachtree City, GA.
