1927 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
FUSI, Siro Siro Fusi, age 91, of St. Augustine, FL, passed away on September 13, 2018 at Riverside Cottages in St. Augustine. Born in Manhattan, NY, on February 23, 1927, he grew up in Babylon, Long Island, NY. After graduation from high school, Siro knew that it would be an honor to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. He enlisted at age 17 and was called to active duty in January 1945 and served aboard a small patrol boat which was functioning as a G.I. transport and was participating in Air Sea Rescue duty in the Atlantic. After his discharge in August 1946, he attended and graduated from Columbia College of Columbia University, NY. He was then recalled to active naval duty in February 1951 during the Korean War, and sent to Green Cove Springs, FL, to re-commission the USS Rizzi. Following his naval service he began his forty-four year career in sales of transparent packaging films. Siro married Mary, the love of his life, on December 9, 1950. After retiring in 1996, he and Mary moved to Sea Gate North on Anastasia Island where they enjoyed many happy years together. Siro is survived by his son Stephen (wife Michele), daughter Carol Brown (husband Jim), four grandchildren and four great-grandsons. His wife Mary and son Pete, predeceased him. His cremains will be entrusted to the U. S. Navy for burial at sea. "Wishing him fair winds, following seas and a star to guide him."
