GILBERT, Sr., Walter Clayton On October 21, 2017, Walter Clayton Gilbert, Sr. graduated to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by his loving family. A native of Atlanta, Mr. Gilbert attended Garden Hills Elementary, North Fulton High School, Georgia Institute of Technology and Georgia State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Walter was one of the true Buckhead Boys. He started his career with Lockheed Aircraft Corp. Later, Walter founded his own manufacturers' representative agency and partnered with several other companies to grow his business and influence. Walter's greatest accomplishment was loving and leading his family in the ways of the Lord. He served in leadership at Peachtree Presbyterian Church and Johnson Ferry Baptist Church (JFBC). His faith, family and friends will long be remembered as his hallmark. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn, his four sons, Clay (Rosalind), Daniel (Mary Beth), Tom (Regina), and Patrick (Brent), along with, his five grandchildren: Anna, Anne Lanier, Mary Clayton Murphy (Will), Thomas, and Maria; his brother James O. Gilbert, Sr. (Maxine); his sister-in-law Judy B. Head (Jim); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The celebration of Walter Clayton Gilbert, Sr.'s life will be held at JFBC, Wednesday, October 25th at 11:00am, officiated by Reverends Bryant Wright and Dr. Daniel Gilbert. The family will receive friends following the service. The family is so grateful for the loving care given by The Phoenix at Roswell staff and Bridgeway Hospice Care team. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: JFBC Pastoral Care Ministries, 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, GA 30068 or to EmPowered Living International Ministries, a mission & humanitarian work of his son, Daniel, 825 Water Elm St., Chesapeake, VA 23320.
