SPERLING, Dorothy Dorothy Carro Sperling, age 71, of Atlanta, died July 19, 2014 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Her pink ribbon frayed but never ripped in her 20 year fight. As a teacher, volunteer, fundraiser, philanthropist, and business executive, Ms. Sperling was best known for her unbridled passionate of giving. In her early years, Ms. Sperling taught children with learning disabilities both in Boston and Atlanta. Later Ms. Sperling was a business executive with AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and Avya. Philanthropy became one of Ms. Sperling's passions. She served in development roles with , and for Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta to help with early detections and intervention. Ms. Sperling never quit attitude helped countless with cancer know that life can go on with cancer. Survivors include her son, Aaron Sperling, San Francisco; son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin and Kaylee Sperling, San Diego, CA; son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Michael and Michelle Watkins, grandchildren: Madison Watkins Shaw, Hannah and Grace Sperling, Abigail and Christopher Watkins; and niece, Catherine Levy. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Heidi Sperling Watkins; mother, Ina Carro; father, Lloyd Carro; sister Geraldine Levy; brother-in-law, Jonathan Levy; aunt, Sylvia Cheses; uncles, Ozzie and David Cheses; of blessed memory. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Dressler's Jewish Funeral Care Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 7pm. Interment was in Boston, MA.
