Dr.  Frank Sanders Jr. Obituary
SANDERS, Jr., Dr. Frank Dr. Frank DeCelle Sanders, Jr., 90, of Roswell, GA went to our heavenly father, Monday, August 11, 2014. Dr. Sanders was born in Jackson MS, the son of Frank DeCelle Sanders and Ola Louise. The son of a career army man, he grew up in a variety of towns throughout the South. Attending high school at Fort Moultrie on Isle of Palms, Dr. Sanders was valedictorian of his high school class. Upon graduation, he enrolled in the Citadel but with the advent of World War II volunteered for the Air Force. At the age of 20 he became a navigator on a B-24 with the mission of dropping supplies and operatives behind enemy lines to the underground. He went on to fly 35 missions before returning to the US and back to Mississippi. Upon return, he enrolled at Mississippi College where he met the love of his life for the last 65 years, Rosa Nell Ferguson. Upon graduation, he enrolled in dental school at Loyola University in New Orleans, LA. He graduated number one in his dental class and returned to Jackson, MS where he was in private practice for 15 years. Dr. Sanders then enrolled in the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and with family in tow spent a year getting his Masters of Public Health. Upon receiving his degree, he joined the State of Georgia Department of Public Health working in various capacities in the Dental Health Office until his retirement in 1996. Dr. Sanders was instrumental in fluoridation of water supplies across Georgia. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rosa Nell Sanders. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Judy Henke and Brandt Henke of Alpharetta, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Jane Kelly and Steve Kelly of Alpharetta, GA, son and daughter-in- law, Frank D Sanders III and Rose Marie Sanders of Charlotte, NC, son and daughter-in-law, Robert Sanders and Debra Sanders of Roswell, GA. He is survived by grandchildren Ashley Reed, Tyler Kelly, Frank Sanders IV, Hope Sanders, and Robert Sanders, Jr. Dr. Sanders was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and tennis for his entire life. Services for Dr. Sanders will be Friday, August 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Roswell United Methodist Church, Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs at 1:00 with Military Honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. Roswell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
