Jarrett DAVIS Obituary
DAVIS, IV, Jarrett Jarrett LaFayette Davis IV, a man whose great full heart was not able to withstand complications from Multiple Myeloma on September 17, 2018. Born in Atlanta GA on December 15, 1957, to Mary Virginia and Jarrett L Davis III, he was a K-12 Westminster Schools graduate, attended Hampton Sydney University, and graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Business. He was loved by all who knew him. After twenty-four years, as a kind-hearted, honest, and ethical banker, he finally found the place, in 2013, that allowed him the integrity he had always sought as a financial advisor for Oakbridge Partners in Atlanta GA. And in that year he and his wife of thirty-one years, Jane Ellington Davis, also found their dream home in the mountains of Cashiers, North Carolina. Over the last five years, Jarrett was able to pursue his golfing and to develop his singing and just loved entertaining his friends. Over Jarrett's lifetime, his volunteer spirit inspired all of the following charity and civic organizations: the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House, for 20 years; as president, leading the Trinity Early Learning Center in Atlanta and the Haynes Manor Neighborhood Association of Atlanta; in Cashiers NC, he was active in his Bald Rock neighborhood, vice president of the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society, and in the Mountain Youth Charities program called Junior Appalachian Music, he taught guitar and banjo at the Blue Ridge School, and enjoyed being a Big Brother in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cashiers. Singing almost made him as happy as being "Grandy" to his two granddaughters, Magnolia Wren Brown and Alia Pearl Brown. Jarrett's son, Dr Wells Shaw Brown of Vancouver Canada, gave Jarrett such comfort in cancer research, and daughter-in-law Dr Juli Ann Carrillo of the University of British Columbia also added support through the tough months of Jarrett's fight. Jarrett is survived by his wife, Jane Ellington Davis, his son Dr Wells Shaw Brown, two grand-daughters, his parents, his brother, Bryan Davis, and sister, Frances Davis, of Atlanta. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley, 120 Handicap Dr, Sapphire NC 28774, from 4-6 PM on Friday September 21st and another celebration in Atlanta at Peachtree Golf Club, 4600 Peachtree Rd, Brookhaven, GA 30319, from 3-5 PM on Sunday September 23rd. Donations in Jarrett's memory can be made to the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society, PO Box 638 Cashiers NC, 28717; Mountain Youth Charities PO BOX 1603 Cashiers NC, 28717; Atlanta Ronald McDonald House, 795 Gatewood Rd Atlanta GA, 30329, Big Brothers Big Sisters PO Box 696 Cashiers NC 28717.
