Family-Placed Death Notice

PARTAIN, Mary Mrs. Mary Roberts Partain, 88, beloved wife of Colonel (Ret.) Jacques O. Partain, Jr. for 67 years, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 7, 2010. She was born in Hall County, GA, June 23, 1921. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son, Superior Court Judge Jack Partain (Pam) of Dalton, and two daughters, Mary Jill Allen (Jim) of Smyrna, and Elsye Jan Winchester (Greg) of Milton. Mrs. Partain was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marianne, her parents, William and Mary Plecker Roberts, six brothers and two sisters. Mary was a graduate of Gainesville High School, at age of 15, and she completed her education at Wingate University, where she was a member of the Girls Basketball Team. She was a kindergarten teacher who taught at Fritz Orr School, First Alliance Church, Chattahoochee School, and at Peachtree Road Methodist Church Preschool. All "her children" received her devotion and loving care. Mary's Christian faith was a priority in her life. Throughout her years, she was active in various churches and Bible study groups. She taught crafts and tumbling at the Westminster Schools' Summer Camp until she was 75. At age 76, Mary took up snow skiing, and at 81, she drove a jet ski and loved it! Mary spent many years as an active member of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, and she loved her country! In 1985, she was selected as "A Gracious Lady of Georgia" by "Gracious Ladies" in Columbus. She loved to travel and visited principal points of interest throughout the world. Her single goal in life was to help others, whether they were family or strangers. She lived to serve her family and nothing pleased her more than to spend time with her nine grandchildren, of whom she was extremely proud and who survive "Mimi", as she was affectionately know to them: Lucy and Andy Partain; Elizabeth Allen Greene (Mike); Dustin, Mary-Elsye, Caleb, Sarah-Anne, Asa, and Rebecca-Joy Winchester. Mary's first great grandson, "Baby Will" Greene, is expected in September. Those wishing to honor Mary's life, may consider Precept Ministries, 7324 Noah Reid Road, P.O.
