Pauline McCarthy Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

McCARTHY, Pauline PAULINE M. McCARTHY Pauline M. McCarthy, 83, beloved spouse of Jeremiah B. McCarthy, passed peacefully on the morning of July 20, 2010. Lively, fun-loving, artistic, passionate, lover of music, art, babies (and creator of the latter two), she will be dearly missed by her husband of 55 years, her children and their spouses (Michael and Bambi, Kathleen and Tony, Daniel and Carol, and Mary and Will), and her grandchildren: Max, Dani, Miranda, Torin, Kerry, Sean, Connor, Eleanor, and Bohdan. She treasured her time with her sisters and relatives in Cape Cod and Boston, and with dear friends at Holy Cross Church and in Grosse Pointe. In addition to her adventures chaperoning a trip of students to the Soviet Union; traveling with Jerry to Ireland, Alaska, and Lake Louise; she loved annual Thanksgiving family beach reunions, gardening, dessert, and whistling. She brought comfort and joy to many as Paulette the Clown, as a hospice volunteer, and as a St. Stephens Minister, and worked at both Parke-Davis and Georgia Pacific. Her smile and warmth touched friends and strangers alike. Wake on Thursday, 7/22, 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Friday, 7/23; both at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3773 Chamblee Tucker Rd. Atlanta, GA 30341. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Martin de Porres Ministry at Holy Cross. Please sign online guestbook at www.fischerfuneralcare.com. Dear Uncle Jerry and Cousins, We are so sorry for your loss. Aunt Polly was a wonderful person with an infectious love of life. She always had a smile for everyone. She and I had an impromptu dance one night at Mom's house in the family room when recently up here on The Cape. I'll treasure that memory for a long time.

May you all find peace and strength during this sad time.

Love,
Bill, Jeanne and Steve from Cape Cod, Mass.

How grateful we are for the annual Cape Cod visits with Aunt Polly & Uncle Jerry. Polly beaming her beautiful smile, organizing photo ops, sharing stories of her children and grandchildren. We'll treasure this memory of Polly dancing at Irene's memorial just a few weeks ago - sharing her zest for life and cheering us on. What an example she has given us to follow! Sending all our love to Jerry and our McCarthy cousins.

Uncle Jerry, Michael, Kathy, Dan and Mary,
Our hearts go out to all of you. We were so sorry to hear of Aunt Pauline's passing but thankful it was peaceful. I can't tell you how blessed we were to have had our weekend in Vermont in June. We've been lucky to have seen Jerry and Pauline nearly every year and the trip to Vermont was a godsend to Kevin and me, never thinking it would be our last visit with Pauline. We can only imagine the depth of your sorry upon losing someone so vibrant, positive and close to all of you. Just know that each of you had a special place in her heart as she lovingly brought us up to date on all of you each year. We will miss her smile and warmth; she truly was a special lady.
With love and sympathy,
Mary and Kevin

Polly was such a very special person to me. She welcomed me to Holy Cross and introduced me to everyone she knew. She enlisted me to Stephen's Ministry and she would catch my eye to wish me PEACE during the 7:30 mass from across the aisle. Always smiling, she was what Jesus asked us to be to be to one another,...Love.
I will miss your hugs, Polly.

Dear Uncle Jerry and family,
We were all blessed to have had Aunt Pauline in our lives. She took a keen interest in each of her nieces and nephews and in our children. As a child of the Depression, we marvelled at just how many she could feed with Aunt Eileen's chicken salad and have left-overs for the next day. She was a wonderful sister, wife, mother and grandmother and we wish God Speed to our "Dorchester girl".
Fondly,
Tom and Eileen Hughes, Peabody, Ma. and
Jack and Julia McCarthy, Quincy, Ma.

I spent 5 years with Polly as a Stephen Minister. What a blessing she was to everyone. She was a kind and sincere person. She always thought of others. I never saw her that she did not have a smile on her face. She will be missed. I will alway remember her Boston accent.

May God's peace be with all of the family.

Uncle Jerry, Michael, Kathy, Dan, Mary and families. The first word that comes to mind when I think of Aunt Pauline is happy. Always a smile, a song, a kind word... We were so sorry to hear of Pauline's passing, but grateful she was not ill, in pain or suffering. We all have such fond memories of times spend with Pauline, which, in time, will make the sadness fade. Love to All, Paul and Kathy (Hughes) Callinan and family
