Family-Placed Death Notice
FREEMONT, Sr., M.D. Dr. James Dr. James Mckinley Freemont, Sr. James McKinley Freemont, Sr., MD passed away suddenly on April 13, 2013. Celebration Of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 11am at Cascade United Methodist Church, 3144 Cascade Rd., SW; Atlanta, GA. (30311), Rev. Dr. Marvin A. Moss, Senior, pastor; Rev. Michael Stinson, pastor of Bethel U.M.C. officiant. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church starting at 10:30 am, on the day of Service. Dr. Freemont graduated from Southern University, served in the U.S. Army; worked for The Center for Disease Control prior to entering Emory University Medical School. After graduating from Emory, he completed his residency at Grady Memorial Hospital, specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. During his private practice he delivered over 7,800 babies. Dr. Freemont later completed his MBA and received his certification in acupuncture. An astute businessman and consummate professional, Dr. Freemont served on several committees and as a hospital administrator, including Vice Chief of Staff of South Fulton Medical Center. Through all of his accomplishments, The Lord was the foundation of James's life. James McKinley Freemont, Sr. leaves to cherish his memories, wife Erma Raye; sons James, Jr. (Nykia), and Jonathan and daughter Joi (Christopher), grandson Jackson McKinley, sister Vernetta Freemont-Johnson (Fred); brothers Billy (Helen); Frankie; Hamid, numerous other relatives and friends TODAY, Public Viewing from 1-9pm to include the Omega Psi Phi Ceremony which will commence at 7 pm sharp. Dr. Freemont came into my life over 30 years ago to deliver my two oldest sons, Terrance and Dejuan. His disposition was warm and empowering. He always took the time to assure me that my babies and I were doing well. When I was expecting my third child, Corey now 22, he assured me that this one was going to do great things; and I could not be more proud. I had always wanted to revisit his office to update their progress. When I saw this announcement of his passing today, I was very sadden and will truly miss him. I know his family enjoyed the love he showered them with and and shared with his community and will miss him very much. Just know that in spirit he will be with us always. To the Freemont family, you are blessed.

Dr.Freemont saw me through all five of my high risk pregancies.After I found out that I was having twins the last time, I asked him to tie my tubes. When I woke up from the C-section he was there & he told me that he did something better than tie my tubes. That he took them out & that I could go see them. I was in pain but I could not help but to laugh.

To Dr. James Freemont Sr. He was a man of caring. Dr. Freemont delivered my daughter in 2009, and i remember telling him that i was scared, cause it had been 20 years since i had another baby. He told me not to worry, that he would make sure i have a pleasant delivery, and he did. I appreciate the dedication he had for his patients. Dr. James Freemont Sr. will be TRULY MISSED! Dr. Freemont was such a fun loving man he always had a joke or phrase to put me at ease during my visit so when he completed my exam, I rarely knew it! Dr. Freemont delivered my first grandbaby. I rememeber my first time meeting Dr. Freemont when my daughter had her appointment with him. On that day I told my daughter that "older Dr's know what they are doing and is FULL of knownledge". Dr. Freemont told my daughter and I that one day he will have ALL of the babies he delivered be his little people that will hold his robe while he walk around with his crown on his head. But, you had to be there to hear how Dr. Freemont said that. We all laughed sooooo hard.

Dr. Freemont arrived two minutes to late during the delivery of my son on Feb 15th 2013. The first words he spoke when he walked in the room and saw the baby had already been delivered was " what did y'all do?" I will always remember the look on his face and the tone of his voice from that day. He was forever calling my son a big head rascal. We will miss u very much!

Dr. James Freemont is an Advisory Board Member of the Jaguar Foundation of Atlanta. His name alone gave our organization credibility. Three thoughts come to mind about Dr. Freemont:1)He was a wise man. He married Erma back at SU graduation before the military called. They are the salt of the earth.
2) He loved people. I have heard stories of him delivering four generations of babies into the world. I also know he has helped many a young girl who was pregneant without any family support without pay.
3) James Freemont loved Southern University. His favorite line was "My three children can attend any college they like, but my money goes to Southern University!" He would then follow with a big laugh. We will miss you old lion. Blessings to Erma, James Jr., Joi, and Johnathon.
