Dave Stauss was more than a distinguished civil engineer for the U.S. Army and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He craved adventure - kite-boarding, sailing, skiing and driving hot little sport cars. Read the news obituary.

Someone is missing
Hearts are broken
We won´t let their name
Go unspoken
We will raise a lass
Round the holiday tables
Share stories of them
If we feel we can
Holidays feel wrong
It´s just not the same
But it will still go on
And You will say their name
Dave & Bill Stauss - We celebrate our earthly time with you often - we still miss you!

I just found out about Dave's death and am truly sorry to hear that he is gone. I knew him during his senior year in college and when he started his engineering career. I'll never forget his little white Porsche, his nutty sense of humor or his patience in teaching me to drive a stick shift in a hilly town. I am so sorry for the loss to his family and everyone who knew him.

Cheryl,
I worked with Dave when at Fort Stewart, as well as SERO and FORSCOM. Dave was such a great supervisor and co-worker, with tremendous patience. He was not just a "go thru the motions" type of guy, but truly helped everyone, and it was greatly appreciated. He will be sorely missed. My thought and prayers go out to you and your family.

Dave was one of the sweetest funniest guys I know. And a damn good musician to boot. And he had the best costumes. I'm so glad I had the good fortune to know him.
