Ellen BAYLEY Obituary

BAYLEY, Ellen Marie Kinsey Dec. 16, 1935 Oct. 25, 2018 Ellen was a creator, discoverer, and nurturer of beauty - in nature, in life, and in all of God's children. Ellen was born in Atlanta and lived there for most of her life. After graduation from Ogle-thorpe University she married her husband Ted. During their marriage, they lived in Quantico, VA, Thomson, GA, East Point, GA, and Winter Park, FL before moving to Atlanta in 1972 where they remained. Over the years Ellen taught preschool and elementary school and worked at Zachary's Men's Clothing Store at Lenox Square. But her passion was art. She always had a sketch pad with her and doodled on any paper that was nearby. She began painting in earnest after her daughters had finished high school and had a studio at the Atelier and later at Tula Gallery. Her paintings are on display around Atlanta and in many businesses and homes all over the United States and even in Europe. Ellen was Presbyterian all her life. She served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, worked with Habitat, was involved with the Alzheimer's support group, and prepared and served meals with the Shelter. She embraced service to God and others as a guiding principle of her life. Love for and appreciation of creation, respect for all people, and a drive to make the world a better place was especially important to Ellen and she instilled these values in her children. Ellen was predeceased by her parents Charles and Marie Kinsey, her brother Charles Kinsey, Jr, and her belove husband Ted whom she cared for so lovingly throughAlzheimer's. Ellen is survived by her daughters Angela Drummond (Wayne) of Black Mountain, NC; Barbara Shefelton (Chip) of Newport News, VA and Karen Kent of Atlanta and 5 delightful grandchildren in whom she could not have been more proud - Sam Drummond, Andrew and Kathryn Kent, and Bayley and Kinsey Shefelton. They all loved being together with Emee. Services for Ellen will be held at Shallowford Presbyterian Church, 2375 Shallowford Road, Atlanta on Monday, October 29 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please donate to a favorite charity or one of Ellen's favorites - Trees Atlanta, Shallowford Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer's Association.

I was so sorry to learn of Aunt Ellen's passing. My mother, Jeanne Kinsey Fletcher, was her half-sister. My brother, Rick, and I remember her-and Uncle Ted-with such fondness. I will never forget having the honor of being the flower girl at their wedding.

Holiday meals around Charlie and Marie's table were so very special.

Our hearts go out to Angela, Barbara, Karen and all the grandchildren.

God Bless,

Lisa Fletcher

So very sorry for your loss. One thing that comforts me is knowing all of our loved ones are in the safest place they can be--God's memory. May the true God give you peace and comfort through this difficult time. Isaiah 40:10
