Bernice Johnson Henley
Jackson, SC—Bernice Johnson Henley known affectionately to many as Beanie, was born on July 3rd, 1949, in Aiken, SC to Cornelious Johnson, Sr. and Martha Mae Johnson. Her father, mother, three brothers (Harold Johnson, Cornelious Johnson Jr, and Fred Brinkley Johnson Sr.) and one sister (Irene Robinson) proceeded her in death.
She graduated from Jackson High School but she always thought of Martha Schofield High as her true Alma Mater. She also attended Aiken Technical College where she earned an Associates degree in Early Childhood Development.
Survivors include her husband, Moses Henley Jr. of Jackson; a daughter, Sandy Nicole Steward (Michael) of Hampton, VA; a grandson Michale P. Steward II; seven brothers, James Johnson (Miriam) and John C. Johnson both of Denver, CO; Danny Johnson (Paulette) of Aiken; Leroy Johnson (Denise) of Jacksonville, FL; Haywood Johnson of Brooklyn, NY; Jimmy Ashley and Ricky Ashley, both of Jackson; two sisters, Carol Johnson Jones of Mesquite, TX and Betty Sue Ashley of Jackson; one niece loved as a sister, Yvonne Robinson Upton (Victor) of Dallas, TX; and a host of loving nephews, nieces and other saddened relatives and grieving friends.
Graveside services 11 AM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Southlawn Cemetery with Rev. Anthony Wilson officiating.
