On September 19, 1943, Myriam brought joy to her family as the second child of parents Professor Isaiah and Pearl H. Burns. She had an extremely generous nature. She later joined Trinity CME Church and finally Saint Alban's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Van Buren was a faithful member of St. Alban's and a Lay Reader where she read the Holy Scripture in Church each third Sunday in worship. She was a dedicated Church School teacher.
On July 7, 2007, after many years of companionship, Myriam and Ronald Van Buren (Van) were joined in Holy matrimony. They were together for a total of 30 years. Myriam professed her love of God as she married the love of her life, Ronald. They were committed to serve God in Spirit and in Truth as Church leaders. She was a graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School and Paine College. Myriam was known as an excellent teacher in the Richmond County School System, Augusta, GA for thirty-eight years and finalized her Spiritual education with a Certificate in Theology from the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA.
