I remember Mrs. Jones very fondly during my days as a grade school student in Augusta-Richmond County and my attendance at the Art Factory at a United Methodist Church on Crawford Avenue. I believe she was the Executive Director of that program for many years, and that program was a wonderful, extracurricular introduction to the arts for many of us growing up in the inner city. I remember that beautiful smile, and she even gave me a ride home once or twice. Heartfelt condolences to her family, some of whom I know (Carolyn Lightfoot). Truly Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.

It was a pleasure to have worked with Mrs. Jones at Mach Academy. Our senior volunteers (Foster Grandparents) as well as myself will surely miss her. We looked forward to serving her each year during Masters and the summer. She will be missed but we will truly carry on her legacy in tutoring the children.

Betty was truly a servant of God. We met more than 25 years ago in the service of non-profit. She loved her community and was a dedicated soul who always rendered her best. She was a genuine advocate for thousands of children across the CSRA: from the church... to Girl Scouts... to MACH Academy... and so much more! Now, well done dear Betty, a good and faithful servant. You fought the good fight of faith, and finished your course. Take your well deserved and eternal rest.
Affectionately,
Rev. Sharon Childs Caldwell
