William R. Doede, age 89, of Yorkville, IL, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 13, 2007. He was born on August 27, 1918 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Leo and Augusta (Guenther) Doede.

Bill was united in marriage on June 1, 1942 in Naperville, IL to the former Virginia "Ginny" Rolph and spent the next 65 years of their lives together.

Bill was a graduate of North Central College in Naperville, IL. He was a talented and prolific writer with several novels, as well as, many short stories and poems to his credit. He was a former member of the Writers Club in DeKalb, Illinios. Bill also loved music and was a self taught Pianist. Through out his life he enjoyed being out-of-doors and espcially loved fishing with his family and friends. When his sons were young he showed his love of nature by working with them in The Boys Scouts of America. In Bill's younger years he was interested in Taxidermy.

Mr. Doede was a Veteran of The United States Merchant Marines having served during World War II.

Bill was first employed by an electronics firm in St. Charles, IL. He was later employed for over 25 years by C.T.S. in Sandwich, IL. He was most recently employed for the last seven years as a Greeter at the Wal-Mart in Plano, IL.

William is survived by his wife, Virginia; his children, Roger "Skip" (Cindy) Doede of Elburn, IL, Sue Disbrow of Toledo, OH, Pat (John) Jackson of Elgin, IL, Mary (Jim) Connolly of Westmont, IL, Phyllis (Keith) Armbruster of Yorkville, IL, and Eric "Rick" Doede of Lisle, IL; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brothers, Edwin and Walter Doede, both of Portland, OR; and his sister, Ruth Larson of Salem, OR; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Augusta Doede; his two sisters, Velma Kistler and Leona Hamilton; and two brothers, Lester and Martin Doede.

Memorial Services for Mr. Doede will be held from 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the Larson Nelson Funeral Home, 410 East Countryside Parkway, Yorkville, IL with Pastor Robert Stout officiating. Friends may visit from 12:00 until the hour of Service at the Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.

Memorial in Mr. Doede's name may be directed to the American Heart Association, 208 S. LaSalle Street, Suite 900, Chicago, IL, 60604-1197.
