On May 29, 2017, Raymond Smythe Jr., passed away at 93 years of age. He was the beloved husband of Sarah Jane (nee Warnick) for 64 wonderful years and dedicated father to Patricia Smythe; Susan Guinn and husband Ron; Linda Christine Foote and husband Harry; Barbara Smythe; Jane Hock and husband Tom; Raymond Smythe III and wife Christina. He was richly blessed with 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Born and resided in Baltimore, Ray was a WWII veteran, Western Electric supervisor, 70 year Masonic member, Boy Scout and Explorer troop leader, avid outdoorsman and exuberant storyteller. Ray was also a huge fan of the Baltimore Orioles, loved to spend time in his vegetable garden and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the beauty and wilderness of West Virginia.
A memorial service was held at Central Baptist Church, Essex, on June 10.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Tuscan Masonic Lodge of MD.
