Nielsen, Paul F. Sr.
95, passed away in Mesa, AZ on May 8th, 2013. Paul was married to LaVerne J. for 42 years, until her death in 1996. Paul is survived by children Paul Jr. of California, Nanette (Vince) Massi of Mexico and John (Laurie) of Illinois and grandson John Massi. A retired postal worker, Paul was a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps, serving as a radio operator and gunner on a B-17 bomber in World War II over German occupied Europe. Immediately after the war, Paul was also a radio operator on a C-47 cargo transport plane, bringing supplies into Germany. Paul was also a member of both the VFW, and American Legion in St. Charles, IL. Paul was born in Chicago, IL, lived in Orlando FL, St. Charles, IL, and retired in Mesa, AZ. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. with a Prayer Service at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Mortuary. 1562 E. Baseline Rd., Mesa. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Queen of Heaven Catholic Mortuary.
