Kelsey Holliday Obituary

Holliday, Kelsey Clyde "Doc"
Born August 8, 1924, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2012. He was the youngest of 9 children, they lived in a farmhouse in Little Rock Arkansas on 80 acres. They had no running water only a well out back. In 1964 dad installed a bathroom in the home, until then they went out back to the outhouse. He completed only 9 years of schooling but continued on to become a journeyman electrician at age 18. He arrived in Phx, Az in 1944 and was hired that very day by Goodyear where he worked as an avonics technician installing equipment on World War II bombers. Next he worked at Paradise Inn as an electrician and a bus boy during the day. It was there he observed and learned to be a bartender. If he did not know how to make a certain drink he looked it up and made it. He met his wife there, Eva, who was Norweigan and could not speak English so the cook translated for her. They married and were together till Eva passed in 1986. Clyde also worked at the Pink Pony in Scottsdale as a Bartender, he later opened Scottsdale Photo Shop in downtown Scottsdale. He also worked at General Motors doing photography for proving grounds. He owned Scottsdale TV shop and he even did house calls to repair his client's televisions. In 1966 he obtained his Real Estate License and worked for Ed Thirkhill Realty, known as "Doc Holliday". He enjoyed socializing with friends and family and will be greatly missed by many. You could call Clyde a self made man and not afraid to try anything. He is survived by his older brother-Vernon Holliday, Daughter-Nancy Lee Steinke, Son-George Holliday and two grandchildren- Paul Holliday and Greta Hegeman. He also has 2 great grandchildren, Paul's son-Jack Holliday and Greta's son-Christopher Hegeman. Any donations please send to Hospice of the Valley.
