Rutledge, Doris Hebert
August 27, 1922 ~ September 27, 2013 Former Phoenix resident, Doris Hebert Rutledge, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013, at Mesa View Retirement in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was 91. Doris Hebert was born to Joseph and Lydia (Chaput) Hebert on August 27, 1922 in Putnam, Connecticut. On December 31, 1945, one week after he proposed, Doris married her G.I. and the love of her life, Henry Rutledge in North Grosvenordale, Connecticut. The couple celebrated nearly 60 years of marriage before Henry's passing in 2003. To this union, five children were born. Doris was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed crafts of all kinds, tending to her flower gardens, and her greatest joy of all, her family! She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fruita, a former 4-H leader and Boy Scout Den Mother. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her wisdom and prayers were shared with anyone that asked and she had an amazing ability to make everyone instantly feel like a part of her beloved family. Doris is survived by three daughters: Lorraine Macchione and Kathleen Swern both of Phoenix, AZ; and Angeline (Greg) Roles of Fruita, CO; two sons, John Rutledge and Edward (Kathy) Rutledge both of Phoenix, AZ. She is further survived by 11 grandchildren, Jason Macchione, Kris (Alma) Ross, Travis Ross, Amber (Richard) Orabuena, Chad (Lori) Rutledge, Shannon (Sean) Stearman, Troy Rutledge, Andrea Rutledge, Alisha (Tom) Howard, Kaleene (Jeff) Toback, Justin Roles and 10 great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Edward Hebert; and her husband, Henry Rutledge. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Doris' memory to the Sacred Heart "New Church" Building Fund, P.O. Box 128, Fruita, CO 81521. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory. View the internet obituary and sign the online guest registry at taylorfuneralservice.com.
