85, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on March 4, 2014. He was born on December 26, 1928 in Mesa, Arizona to Antonio Mendoza and Guadalupe Macazan. Gilbert married Frances Lopez Mendoza on December 26, 1953. He worked as a steel worker for 35 years with Capital Castings. He served our country in the US Army and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. Gilbert enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Lopez Mendoza; his son Ruben Mendoza of Phoenix; his daughter Rosemary (Robert) Madril of Queen Creek; his grandson James Gilbert Arreol; his sister Inez Daniels of Mesa; his brothers David Mendoza of Mesa, Lupe Mendoza of Mesa, Frank Mendoza of Mesa and Nacho Mendoza of Mesa; he is preceded in death by his son Gilbert Michael Mendoza and brother Antonio Mendoza Jr. Arrangements are entrusted to Funeraria Melcher Chapel of the Roses, 43 S. Stapley Drive, Mesa, Arizona 85204 (480) 964-4537. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 09, 2014 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Mass will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 10:00 am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 141 N. MacDonald Street, Mesa, Arizona 85201. Interment will follow at City of Mesa Cemetery.
