Raymond E. "Ray" Thieme Sr.

Thieme, Raymond E. Sr.
Ray Thieme Sr., 90, of Scottsdale, Arizona died peacefully on October 23, 2012. Born on February 11, 1922 in Newark, New Jersey to Theodore Thieme and Rose Mueler, he will be remembered most for a smile on his face and laughter in his heart. Never a day passed that he didn't try his hardest to bring a smile to everyone he met with his humor. Ray was the best father his daughters could have wished for and cherished by all that knew him. He was also a long time Pittsburgh Steeler fan, served in a glider squadron in WWII, was a Phoenix Shriner, a life long member of the Masonic Lodge of Maplewood, NJ and loved the Jersey shore. He is survived by Ruth Polacco, his daughter Christine and son-in-law Joe Ray of Scottsdale, AZ, daughter Robin and son-in-law Barry Levine of Issaquah, WA, son Ray Thieme, Jr. and wife Mary of Scottsdale, AZ, and older brother Theodore of Topsham, Maine. Ray Sr. was preceded in death by his parents and his sister June Churilla of Pueblo, Colorado. He often said that the best medicine he could possibly have was the love that he received from his four grandchildren, Alayne, Max, Brian and Nick. The family will be having a private celebration of his wonderful life. Special thanks to everyone at Arizona Shining Star and The Crossing: Hospice Care who appreciated his sense of humor right up until the very end. You made such a difference and we thank you. Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Indian School Mortuary.
