Stovall, William T. Jr.
82, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on March 2nd, 2014. As a young man, he earned his Eagle Scout award and was a member of the "Order of the Arrow" in the Boy Scouts of America. He had been retired from teaching and coaching for the Arizona High Schools since 1991. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was the Captain for the All Marines Champion Team in 1953. Bill then went to the University of Arizona on a football scholarship. After receiving his Master's at the U of A, he and his wife, Sylvia, moved to Eloy, AZ where he coached and taught Biology for seven years. He then took the position of head football and track coach at the Nogales, Arizona HIgh School for 3 years. The rest of his 37 years of teaching were spent at South Mountain High School in Phoenix, AZ. Bill had a passion for fitness and, in 1982, entered several body building contests achieving the following titles; "Mr Western USA", "Mr. Arizona Over 40" and second place runner up in the "Mr. U.S.A. Over 40" contest. In 2000 he was named in the Hall of Fame for the East Mississippi Junior College in Scooba, Mississippi. He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Sylvia; three sons, Jay, Scott, Russell and his wife Libby; and one daughter, Jodi. He also leaves behind his sister, Mary Sue; grandchildren, Brandon, Chris, Ashley, Jake, Josh, Rain, and Summer; and the newest addition, Hazel Lynn, his great granddaughter.
