Maxine Freund Obituary

Freund, Maxine
Passed away on December 20th in Hospice care at the age of 91. She grew up in South Pasadena, CA, the daughter of Mindia (Jackson) Henville and Frank Henville. She attended South Pasadena High School; and several years ago she enthusiastically attended the 70th reunion of her graduating class (1941). Maxine went on to UCLA where she met her husband, John Ernst Freund. They lived in Alfred, NY, and Blacksburg, VA, before moving to Arizona, where Professor Freund taught at A.S.U. Dr. Freund became a prominent author of college textbooks on statistics. He passed away in 2004. John and Maxine travelled the world together, and made many lasting friendships along the way. Maxine was a resident of Paradise Valley for more than half a century, and loved the southwest, particularly its bird life and rabbits. She enjoyed tennis, and cherished the friendships that she formed playing the game, which endured for many years. She loved the Mutts and Peanuts comic strips! She is survived by her two sons, John Ernst
Freund, Jr., 55, of Seattle, WA, and Douglas Eric Freund, 58, and his wife, Tracy Anne Freund, of Jerome, AZ. A memorial will be held early in 2015, at Valley Presbyterian Church. Contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley. Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Indian School Mortuary.

Doug and John, may the Lord bless and keep your Mom - she and your late Dad were wonderful parents and neighbors, as well as role models for what makes marriages work. Blessings to you both in your time of loss.
