Nicholas Ferrin Obituary

Ferrin, Nicholas Taylor
21, passed away October 17, 2010 after suffering a brain aneurysm. At the time of his death Nick was serving as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Oregon Portland Mission. Nick graduated from Mountain View High School in 2008 and was attending Mesa Community College before his mission. Nick had a natural love and compassion for people and a desire to help and be of service. He was a friend to all and had many cherished friends he loved like family. Nick was a light that brightened the lives of all who knew him. He had an infectious laugh and a sense of humor that he used often as he brought joy to those around him. Nick's passions were listening to music, dancing and fly fishing on mountain streams. Most of all he had a passion for life and had a heart as big as his personality. He was very close to his sister and brothers and loved them dearly. Nick is survived by his parents Michael and Sharilyn Ferrin of Mesa, AZ; brother Cameron (Cecia) and nephew Jack of Minneapolis, MN, brother Robert and sister Madison of Mesa; grandparents C. Robert and Karen Sanders and Wilma M. Ferrin, of Ogden, UT. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Luan H. Ferrin. Visitation will be Friday, October 22, 2010 from 6-8 PM at Bunker's Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way in Mesa. Funeral services are Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11 AM preceded by a 2nd visitation from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at the LDS Central Stake Center, 925 N. Harris Rd. in Mesa. Interment will be at the City of Mesa Cemetery.

Dear Mike and Shari,

My name is Elder Quinn Blackmer, im currently serving in the Utah St. George mission. Im from Portland, OR. Your son was serving in my ward back home. Your son was pretty close with my brother, and my family. I remember my mom telling me that Nick felt like he was good friends with my brother, who could relate with him...alot. I know they both liked music, and things along that nature. I thank you so much for raising a man that was willing to give his heart to the Lord, and serve his mission. I know the spirit world is currently in need of missionaries to teach the gospel. I love the plan of salvation and the answers it gives us. That you will be a family in the life to come. Again thank you. My thoughts and prayers are with you always.

Elder Quinn Blackmer

P.S. I would love to stay in contact with you, please if you could send me a letter or something.

Dear Ferrin Family, Our son Greg Greg is on a mission in Canada right now. We emailed Nick's obituary to him and these are his thoughts for you:

"I think you know that I was really good friends with Nick and knew him pretty well in high school and hung out with him quite a bit. He was a really awesome, fun, and loving person. Everytime I was around him, he just made me laugh. I did not know he was on a mission, but that is great to hear that he went. I know that he was a great person, and he was doing what he needed to be doing. I know the plan of salvation is real, and true. We cannot see the big picture but we can put our trust in God and see how much love He has for us. I know that he loves Nick and his family. I know that God will never do anything that will harm or hurt us in the long run. We might feel pain in this earth life, but if we hold out strong to the end, we will see the big picture and understand how much happiness we have recieved. I know I have recieved a lot of happiness because of our Heavenly Father's perfect plan. Elder Denton"

Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. Marc and Denna Denton

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I did not know Nick personally but knew of his kindness. When my daughter was suffering from a loss it was Nick who lifted her spirits and helped her through a rough time. I will always be thankful for his compassion towards her. He will be missed by her and thought of often.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Although it had been a few years since we had seen Nick, he was a "Ferrin" through and through. A great sense of humor that he used to bring joy to many. Just like his brothers and sister, he was a fine young person who loved life. Sounds like a cliche, but he truly is in a better place and the Plan of Salvation insures that he and the rest of your great family will be together again.

I will always remember Nick as a rascally little 4 year old with a fun sense of humor and a special charm about him. :) He certainly had a life well lived. May your memories and loved ones bring you comfort now and in the coming days. Much love, Jana (Ellsworth) Harris
