On Sunday, May 4, 2014, Jon Nesbitt Vogel peacefully passed away in his own home from Parkinson's disease surrounded by his five children, several of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his children Cathy (John) Bunde, Bobbie (Brian) O'Boyle, Joe (Janet) Vogel, Charlie (Anne) Vogel, Jane (Pat) Maderia, by his 14 grandchildren Charlie (Laura) Bunde, Alison Bunde, Katie, Danny and Michael (Laila) O'Boyle, Jon, Elizabeth and Sam Vogel, Olivia (Matt) Bruntmyer, James (Kristin), Erin, and Nick Vogel, PJ and Joey Maderia, and by seven great grandchildren. Jon was born in Fargo ND on New Year's Day 1932. He attended Fargo High School and earned his law degree at the University of North Dakota. He met the love of his life, Fanchon Schloesser Vogel at a soda fountain in Moorhead, MN and they married at age 17. They were married for 52 years until Fanch's death in 2001. Jon worked as a trial lawyer with the Vogel family law firm in Fargo from 1957 to 1964. Always the adventurer, he moved his family to Tucson, Dallas, and Oklahoma City working as a securities broker and teaching his children that change and successful adaptation are necessary components to a full life. He settled in Scottsdale in 1971 where he again began practicing law. He maintained a successful bankruptcy practice for 30 years, and was respected for his no-nonsense work ethic and integrity. Jon was an avid golfer who appreciated the nuanced etiquette of the game. His and Fanch's favorite travel destinations were Hawaii and London. Jon Vogel was a wise, kind, loving and gentle man, and the world is a better place because of him. We appreciate him and will miss him dearly. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10th at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road in Scottsdale. Contributions may be made in his memory to , 1510 E.
