Ann Dornsbach Sheehy

Phoenix - Ann Dornsbach Sheehy, age 76, died February 8, 2018. She was born April 25, 1941, to Margery Newell Dornsbach and Robert Edward Dornsbach in Newton, Iowa. Ann was raised in Eldora, Iowa, and graduated from Eldora High School. She attended Arizona State University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and graduated with a degree in Speech and Language Pathology. Ann's professional career included stints at Arizona State Hospital, Gompers Rehabilitation Center and Washington Elementary School District. Ann was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Phoenix and Scottsdale Alumnae Associations, and the Eldora Historical Society, and an Associate Member of the Eldora American Legion Club. Her volunteer work included being an Oasis Tutor in the Madison Elementary School District. Ann was a person of profound social conscience and maintained a life-long interest in politics. She loved her relatives and friends, reading British mysteries and poetry, and having fun. Ann is survived by her husband, Bruce, her sister, Lynne Dornsbach Stacy of Port St. Lucie, Florida, her niece, Courtney Jones Kinzer (George) and her great nephew and niece, Mitchell and Kathryn Kinzer. She is also survived by her cousins, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, and god children. She is preceded in death by her parents. Inurnment will be in the Eldora, Iowa Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eldora Public Library, the Eldora American Legion or the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Ann's life was one well-lived. Her favorite words were by Alfred Lord Tennyson: " Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho' we are not now that strength which in old days moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are; one equal temper of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield." A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Best Funeral Chapel Phoenix, AZ at 4:00pm. An additional service with inurnment will be scheduled in Eldora, Iowa sometime in May, 2018.
