Rangeler, Arthur William
90, of Tempe, AZ passed away under the Hospice of the Valley Care August 30, 2013. He was born in Emerson, Neb. to Ralph and Elizabeth Rangeler on Nov. 30, 1922. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen, to whom he was married for 63 years and niece, Jerelyn Walters of Broadlands, VA. He served as a Platoon Sergeant in New Guinea and the Philippines during World War II. He received a Philippines Liberation medal for 4 major battles, a Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. After completing his Master Degree from A.S.U. (1964), he taught in the Physical Educ. Dept. He became the Football Equipment Manager for the "Sun Devils." He retired after 5 years with Motorola in Scottsdale. His great joys in life were playing racquetball with Frank Kush and other coaches a A.S.U. He was an excellent golfer and won the Prescott Labor Day Golf Tournament twice. He was a lifetime member of the Tempe Elks Club. Because of his great handwriting, he printed and illustrated bulletins for the Elks. He recently was chosen and went to Washington D.C. thru the Honor Flight Program for World Warr II Veterans. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Tempe Lodge #2251, BPO Elks, 2320 E. Hardy, Tempe 85282. Services Thursday Sept. 12th at 9am. National Veteran's Cemetery 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix 85024.
