It's the 4 legged hero's like you that keep our 2 legged hero's safe. All that you know how to do is truly serve and protect and that all starts with one command. Thank God for all of you.

(Isaiah 11:6) 6 The wolf will reside for a while with the lamb, And with the young goat the leopard will lie down, And the calf and the lion and the fattened animal will all be together; And a little boy will lead them.
So it will be in the not so distant future when we will have access to nature's wonders in animals and never long again for an animal companion ever again, what joy God has promised for all us animal lovers. Baloo, Temple Police Dog was no doubt a great companion.

Hi, My Name is Brian, I am so sorry for the lost of Baloo. I love Dogs too and this tragedy reminded me of a verse in Proverbs 12:10 that says we have to take care of the animals. " The righteous one is caring for the soul of his domestic animal, but the mercies of the wicked ones are cruel." Thank you to the Tempe Police Departmet for having taken care of Baloo.

To the Tempe Police Department. I am sorry for your lost. Be asure that one day this words will come true and then there will be nobody who causes pain or hurt us. "But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time for the dead to be judged, and to give [their] reward to your slaves the prophets and to the holy ones and to those fearing your name, the small and the great, and to bring to ruin those ruining the earth.”

I know in my heart that our pets souls do go to heaven and that is where Baloo is. We had a former K-9, also a German Shepard that was hit by a car and couldn't serve anymore, and Heidi was the most loving, loyal, protective and joyful dog we have ever had. She passed several years ago, but I know that her and Baloo are in a wonderful "doggy heaven" no matter how corny that sounds.

Baloo - there are good dogs and there are great dogs. We love our good dogs but great dogs become part of us and make us better people. Dogs like you teach us to live in the now and take us out of our busy minds\lives and give so much more to us than we ever give to you.
Officer Holdinsky - my heart goes out to you and your family and anyone fortunate enough to have shared knowing Baloo with you. I know the pain of losing a dog who is more than just "a pet" and while the pain never completely goes away, the happiness that comes from having been blessed with being part of this dog's life is worth the sadness we feel at their passing.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

BALOO,
RAINBOW BRIDGE
JUST THIS SIDE OF HEAVEN IS A PLACE CALLED RAINBOW BRIDGE. WHEN AN ANIMAL DIES THAT HAS BEEN ESPECIALLY CLOSE TO SOMEONE HERE, THAT PET GOES TO RAINBOW BRIDGE. THERE ARE MEADOWS AND HILLS FOR ALL OF OUR SPECIAL FRIENDS SO THEY CAN RUN AND PLAY TOGETHER. THERE IS PLENTY OF FOOD AND WATER AND SUNSHINE, AND OUR FRIENDS ARE WARM AND COMFORTABLE. ALL THE ANIMALS WHO HAVE BEEN ILL AND OLD ARE RESTORED TO HEALTH AND VIGOR, THOSE WHO WERE HURT OR MAIMED ARE MADE WHOLE AND STRONG AGAIN, JUST AS WE REMEMBER THEM IN OUR DREAMS OF DAYS AND TIMES GONE BY. THE ANIMALS ARE HAPPY AND CONTENT, EXCEPT FOR ONE SMALL THING-THEY MISS SOMEONE VERY SPECIAL TO THEM, WHO HAD TO BE LEFT BEHIND. THEY ALL RUN AND PLAY TOGETHER, BUT THE DAY COMES WHEN ONE SUDDENLY STOPS AND LOOKS INTO THE DISTANCE. HIS BRIGHT EYES ARE INTENT, HIS EAGER BODY BEGINS TO QUIVER. SUDDENLY HE BEGINS TO RUN FROM THE GROUP, FLYING OVER THE GREEN GRASS, HIS LEGS CARRYING HIM FASTER AND FASTER. YOU HAVE BEEN SPOTTED, AND WHEN YOU AND YOUR SPECIAL FRIEND MEET, YOU CLING TOGETHET IN JOYOUS REUNION, NEVER TO BE PARTED AGAIN. THE HAPPY KISSES RAIN UPON YOUR FACE, YOUR HANDS AGAIN CARESS THE BELOVED HEAD, AND YOU LOOK ONCE MORE INTO THE TRUSTING EYES OF YOUR PET, SO LONG GONE FROM YOUR LIFE BY NEVER ABSENT FROM YOUR HEART. THE TOGETHER YOU AND YOUR SPECIAL PET CROSS THE RAINBOW BRIDGE.

Baloo
Running in an open meadow,
Smelling the fragrant scents of Nature.
Stopping for water at a cold brook,
It is much cooler here.
Missing my family and the Boys in Blue,
I'm there always for all of you.
I liked attention, the snuggles and hugs,
But I really enjoyed helping you catch the thugs.
There is no Pain,
I did my best,
It was time to go
So I leave it for you to do the rest.
It was a quick adjustment moving up here,
I know in my heart you will always be near.
Watching the sunset over a glass smooth pond,
There will always be that "Forever" bond.
John and Carol were my best friends,
They were always there, even at the end.
I know it was tough, you did all you could do,
By the way, I loved being called Baloo.

Thank you so much for including Baloo's obituary in your paper. How reassuring it is to know that others place such value on Baloo's life as to include the news of his heroic death where it truly belongs. They aren't "just animals" -- they are our friends, protectors, loving companions; and each animal is a hero in his or her own right.

"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... "

I am so sorry to read this. I am a German Shepard owner and I think this breed is really something special. My wife and I recently found out our female "Scooter" has a terminal disease similar to chrones... and here we were worried about hip displacia. She is seven now. I cry just thinking about putting her down. I am so sorry for your loss. Some people say there are no pets in heaven but I know they are wrong for I could never be truly happy without being reunited with my precious "best friends".
Sincerely,
