Capt. Burt H. McIntosh, USAF (Ret.) took his last flight into the heavens on August 25, 2013, to join his beloved wife, Isabel. He is survived by his daughter Richelle and her husband Gene Leap. Six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and was preceded in passing by his daughters Charlotte Amy Wickstrom and Barbara Jeanne Gould. Burt was born in Sidney, New York, on July 6, 1922, to H. J. and Effie McIntosh. His studies at Cornell University were interrupted by WWII. He later received a degree from Arizona State in Business Administration. As a young man he always wanted to fly. He enlisted in the Army Air Force during WWII. He flew P-40's, and as a P-47 Thunderbolt he flew close air support for Gen. George S. Patton. He successfully completed 57 missions. He also served as Liaison Sgt. With the Royal Air Force. In addition to the receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross, he received the Order of the Belgian Army, the French Croix de Guerre, and numerous medals for his valor in service. He mustered out following the war and returned to his hometown of Unadilla, New York. There he owned a grocery store until he was recalled for active duty during the Korean Conflict. His final posting was to Luke AFB where he retired in 1959. After completion of duty to his country, he entered into a career of Commercial Property Management. He was also the inventor and patent holder of the Coupon Caddy. Capt. McIntosh will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia where he will rest for eternity with his beloved wife. A Memorial Service will be held at time of burial.
