Charles Rodney "Rod" Reichard

Mesa - Charles Rodney "Rod" Reichard passed away, September 1, 2018 in Mesa, AZ at the age of 91. He was born July 29, 1927 in Tulsa, OK to Port and Nancy [O'Donnell] Reichard. Rod proudly served his country in both the U.S. Marine Corps, being honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant, and later in the U.S. Army, again honorably discharged at the rank of Second Lieutenant. He attended Oklahoma A&M, which later became Oklahoma State University (OSU) and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business in 1954. Shortly thereafter, Rod was married to Virginia Lee Clothier on February 6, 1955.; the two then went on to start their family. Rod worked for American Oil for the next 13 years, which eventually brought them to Arizona. Both Rod and Virginia started Reichard Realty, Inc. which they owned and operated in Mesa for 42 years. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Port and Nancy; his sister, Jane Salas; his brother, William "Bill" Reichard and his beloved wife of 63 years, Virginia Lee Reichard who passed away on March 17, 2018. He is survived by his twin daughters, Karla J. Hoffer (Paul) and Phyllis A. Benson (Don) and daughter Karen S. McCormack (Miles); nephew James Marsh Clothier, who Rod and Virginia thought of as a son; as well as his grandchildren, Dan Benson, Krista Hoffer, Kendall Hoffer, Brandi Benson, Katelyn Hoffer and Lindsay Benson. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 6747 E. Broadway Rd in Mesa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to: Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St, Phoenix, AZ 85014 or www.hov.org. Arrangements entrusted to Mariposa Gardens Funeral Care (480) 830-4422. Rod was a great man and will be truly remembered and deeply missed by all.
