Barton, Cynthia Gill
died September 2, 2013, in Mesa, AZ, at the age of 60. Cyndy was born May 8, 1953, in Topeka, Kansas, and adopted by Glenn and May Gill, her maternal grandparents, at the age of 18 months. She graduated from Hays High School in Hays, KS, attended Fort Hays State University, and graduated from Kansas State University with a BS in Elementary Education in 1975. She earned her MS degree at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. Cyndy moved to AZ in 1977 and met Rusty Barton from Fulton, NY. They were married November 24, 1978, at First Presbyterian Church in Chandler, AZ. Over the course of the next 5 years, Cyndy and Rusty had two sons, Joshua and Christopher. Cyndy continued to teach various grade levels over the next 20 years at Adams Elementary in Mesa, AZ. In 2003 she transferred to Zaharis Elementary where she completed her last 8 years of teaching. Cyndy was very active in Hope Covenant Church in Chandler. She served on theWomen's ministries team, sang on the worship team for about 14 years, was instrumental in the annual boutique, and after her retirement in the most recentmonths helped in Children's ministries. Her quiet ministry included her generosity and empathy in serving with meals to the ill and bereaved in her church family. Family came first in Cyndy's life and she was present for every activity that involved her boys or extended family, usually with treats. Hobbies included baking and cooking, scrapbooking, reading, and travelling, with special trips recently to Queensland, Australia, and Kauai, Hawaii. Cyndy is survived by her devoted husband, Rusty Barton, of Mesa, AZ, sons, Joshua Barton and his wife Liz, Gilbert; Christopher Barton and his wife Rachel, Buckeye; grandsons Gabe, Finn, Ethan, Micah and beautiful granddaughter, Brooklyn; her beloved sister, Georgia Gill, Mesa: brother Paul Gill and wife Glenda, CO: half-brother Herb Irvin and wife Jan of CO: and half- sister Dawn Ellis of MO, mother-in-love, Beverly Jane Barton, brothers-in-love, Gerald Barton, Rick Barton and his wife, Rhonda, sisters-in love, Sheila Vogan and her husband, Rod; and Brenda Howarth and her husband, Doug, all in AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service at Hope Covenant Church on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at 7:00 P.M., 1770 S Dobson Rd, Chandler,
