Diane Nancy Heiland

Phoenix - Diane Nancy Heiland, known to the world as "Grammie Heiland", went to be with our Lord on October 21, 2018 from what she referred to her nearly 6-year journey with cancer. Diane was born in Barrington, IL to Bill and Lillian Larlee on October 20, 1936, their only child. Diane is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, George Heiland, and children Gregory Heiland (Mary), Kurt Heiland (Megan), Christopher Heiland (Julie) and Heidi Paul (David). She was blessed with 17 grandchildren.

A Rosary service and visitation is scheduled for Grammie from 6:00-8:00 PM, with Rosary at 7:00 PM on Friday October 26, 2018 at Brophy Chapel, 4701 N. Central, Phoenix 85012. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday October 27, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 330 W. Coral Gables, Phoenix 85023.

Grammie requested that bright colors be worn. She was especially fond of yellow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Americare Catholic Hospice for the incredible care they gave. The family would like to express its gratitude to all the friends who made this journey a little easier. Visit http://www.hansenmortuary.com for condolences.

I just learned about Diane's passing and I am heartbroken. Diane and my mother were good friends back when her children and my mother's children were in elementary school at St Francis in Phoenix. I have many wonderful memories of this remarkable woman. She was kind, loving, and compassionate and as a child, that made an indelible impression on me. I have carried many lessons I learned from her with me through my life.

I truly loved spending time at the Heiland home as a little girl and especially with Diane.

And to the Heiland children and her husband, George, please accept my heartfelt condolences from me, my 4 brothers, and my mom.

So sorry for the loss of your loving mom. She was a very sweet and kind woman. Our mom's were friends. I remember my mom going to your house for bible study classes since we lived so close in Moon Valley.

What a beautiful obituary for a truly lovely lady. Diane and I lived next door to one another on Canterbury Drive in Moon Valley when our children were small and what fun we did have together!! Before we had pools and had to put up block walls we would run back and forth to each other's home on a daily basis. We drank a lot of coffee together! Diane was always a bundle of energy and always there to help anyone with anything. Although I had not seen Diane for some time I will miss her. Prayers to George and her family.
