Douglas Goulet Obituary
Douglas Goulet

Chandler - Douglas Goulet, 87, passed away at home on June 1, 2018 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Donna, his daughters Michelle Taylor, Diane Holtrup and son Michael Goulet as well as 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Doug was born in Detroit, Michigan. He was Donna's family's paper boy and they became sweethearts in high school. Doug served honorably with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he and Donna married in 1954. He began a career in drafting and eventually became a Registered Architect. Doug loved to boat, water ski and fish. He designed the family cottage which was built on Wildfowl Bay, a part of Lake Huron. His family, along with so many relatives and friends enjoyed spending summers on the bay. In 1972, he moved his family with their speedboat in tow, from Michigan to Phoenix, Arizona. There, he continued his career as an Architect where he went on to design projects locally, nationally and internationally. His pride and joy however, was the cabin he designed and built in Show Low, AZ. Doug enjoyed music and was an avid sports fan. He attended many sporting games while living in Michigan, but his first love of sports was baseball and was a die-hard fan of the Detroit Tigers even after moving to Arizona. Once the Arizona Diamondbacks franchise was established he soon switched his loyalty to the Diamondbacks but continued to support the Tigers. In addition, he enjoyed playing golf and attended local tournaments. Inurnment will be at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Mesa, AZ with a Celebration of Life to occur in the weeks to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sage Hospice and Palliative Care at 480-777-5117. Condolences may be made at Arrangements entrusted to Queen of Heaven Catholic Funeral Home, Mesa, AZ.
